Tech Note 2: 1972 GM
Prior to 1972, GM 1/2 ton 4x4s used QU50654 Seal, a simple, single lip grease seal that is 1/4″ wide. It is possible that a few early 1972 axles also use QU50654, but our Chevy and Dana Parts Books list all 1972 GM 1/2 tons with QU50091 Seal which is 1/8″ wider and features a spring loaded double lip.
