Tech Note 1: 2012 Change
For the 2012 Model Year,  a change was made from QU40812 conventional, Single lip Inner Axle Seals to D440600 Oil Bath type Inner Axle Shaft Seals. The ID and OD of the seal is the same so they are dimensionally interchangeable. QU40812 has an integral axle shaft guide to help lift the axle shaft into the seal which allows the axles to be installed even if the original guide ring is missing from the inner axle shaft. D440600 does not have much of an integral guide so a separate guide ring is typically installed on the inner axle shaft at the factory to align the axle shaft with the seal during axle shaft installation.
